Margaret I of Denmark
Biography
Margaret Valdemarsdatter, her son Olaf died 1387, she ruled in her own right, the Calmar Union 1397 crowning Erik of Pomerania over all three kingdoms. She held the union by diplomacy and will, the Sempringham letter, the dowager who was king. Union lasted 126 years for Denmark Norway, Sweden broke with Gustav Vasa 1523. She died of plague on Flensburg fjord, the Nordic golden ruler.
